June 2011
Direct CONTROL™ office opening in Latvia in August 2011Phil is taking his lovely wife, Elina, back to visit her family in Latvia and they will be staying there for about six months. Latvia is seven hours behind us. So 9am Latvia time is 4pm our time. I guess this means we will have 24 hour support.
About Latvia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latvia
Try and make it to one of our Workshops. They are proving very successful with the last one held in Melbourne on 9 June. Thank you very much to The Bongiorno Group for their great venue and especial thanks to Amy Bongiorno who did the organising.
Let us know if you want to attend the next one in Adelaide on Wednesday, 29 June. Details below.
You will be impressed with our push to OneNote for the Electronic Health Record and use of the iPad and other devices.
The Team @ Direct CONTROL™ Fee Update 1 July 2011There are fee updates effective 1 July that include the new Telehealth MBS codes. From 1 July 2011 people in remote, regional and outer metropolitan areas of Australia will have access to telehealth; an initiative allowing patients to have video consultations with a range of medical specialists. This will provide patients with easier access to specialists, without the time and expense involved in travelling to major cities. Click the link here for more detail:
This Medicare Fee update will affect ALL Health Fund Schedules. There are other changes that may affect you. Please check http://www.health.gov.au/internet/mbsonline/publishing.nsf/Content/Downloads-201107
Health Fund UpdateSurgeonsTake time to update the Contact Management – Insurers/Companies table. Health Funds are being taken over and merging and it is hard to keep up. On your first installation of Direct CONTROL™ the Insurers/Companies table contains Health Fund detail for you to maintain and ensure the detail is relevant to you. Direct CONTROL™ software updates do not change this table. Go to http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/provider/pubs/program/files/eclipse-health-fund-contact-details.pdf
You also need to know that GU Corporate (ex Grand United) only looks after corporate health funds and they do not ECLIPSE. There are over 300 of these funds and include Boeing Australia, Cadbury Schweppes, Caltex, Caterpillar, FAI, Kraft, Motorola and Rockwell to name a few). Grand United non-corporate funds are now Australian Unity.
Better Health no longer exists. Use AHM
Not all Health Funds have Agreements with Hospitals. You will find Hospital Agreement details here: http://www.privatehealth.gov.au/dynamic/healthfundlist.aspx
HospitalsHospital Stay Contracts can differ again with some having Surgeon Fee Schedules from one group and then Fee Schedules for the Hospital Contracts from another Group. The Funds will send you, the Hospital, your contracted fee arrangements.
In Hospital Claiming (IHC)Our NOI (Notice of Integration) with Medicare Australia for In Hospital Claiming (Direct Billing for the Hospital Stay) has been delayed with our ensuring that ECLIPSE is happening seamlessly and our rolling out of Online Eligibility Checking (OEC). We are on to this now and will keep you posted.
The OOPThe OOP will enable Doctors to Quote the Out-Of-Pocket from the iPhone and other medium. This will be ‘stand-alone’ at first but later synchronise with Direct CONTROL™ with option to enter Patient details and upload to DC.
Here is a suggested iPhone View …
Talk about SecurityThe best security for your computer is your network/windows logons but of course this is only as good as the users who do not share their passwords and remember to log-off when they leave their workstation. However, it is not practicable for a small busy office to have staff assigned one dedicated computer or to have to spend time logging off and on each time they move from one desk to another.
Direct CONTROL™ Password CONTROL can also be used for additional security. This Password CONTROL restricts users from accessing various aspects of Direct CONTROL such as Setup and or Financial Reports. You can also restrict Entities/Doctors to only seeing their Reports and lock users to only viewing set Locations.
Contact us if you want to turn this on.
If exporting to MYOB, ensure you have users setup and Audit turned on.
